Ethan is from Jensen Beach, Florida and with spending his free time growing up on the water, he fell in love with the competitive aspects of sailing as a sport. Ethan built the foundation of his sailing knowledge in the Optimist class, working hard to reach the top nationally. This culminated in several years on the U.S. National Optimist Team training and competing in International events all over the world. He believes the processes, skills and understanding of racing in the Optimist class carry over to all aspects of One Design racing.
Ethan subsequently trained and competed mainly in the Laser class while also competing in events in the C420, J24, and J70. He studied at Old Dominion University and later transferred to Jacksonville University, competing in both of their varsity sailing teams. He currently has taken the next step in his personal sailing career and is training and racing in the Waszp One Design foiling class.
When Ethan is not sailing he enjoys helping other sailors refine their skills. At 24, he has been coaching professionally for the last seven years, locally in the south Florida area and across the country from Massachusetts to California and believes with planning, dedication, and the right equipment your sailing possibilities are endless.
Ethan is very excited to take on his next endeavor and is confident his sailing background, knowledge of sails, and skills he has learned can translate into helping sailors in the south Florida area achieve their goals whether that be cruising, racing, or winning in One Design. Don’t hesitate to contact Ethan with any sailing related or local knowledge questions, he is more than happy to help.
