José is from Caracas, Venezuela.  He fell in love with sailing at aged only 10 and never looked back.  Starting with Optimist, he soon earned his place on the Venezuelan National Team and then upgraded to the Laser class.  After sailing competitively, he became a sailing instructor at 14 and obtained his first Captain’s License at 17.

Jose’ then began working throughout the Caribbean, whilst also graduating from the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  Thereafter, he sailed up the Caribbean Islands to Miami and became a Yacht Captain, obtaining his 200GT license, all the while continuously working aboard yachts. Collectively, José now has 18 years of sailing experience and 10 years of professional maritime experience.

José lives full-time aboard with his wife Gabriella and puppy Max on a 1985 S2 11.0A, in Miami harbor. They have no plans on ever moving ashore and will raise their family on the water.  In his free time, he loves to kiteboard and is always searching for offshore winds, this passion began in Los Roques, Venezuela, the “Kiter’s Paradise”. Jose’ is the perfect ambassador and an enthusiastic proponent for Ullman branded Sails and Kites alike  –  he looks forward to hearing about your needs.
